NTL Upscaler - Samsung DVD-Recorder

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of getting this dvd-recorder.

https://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=331172&view=links

If I connect my ntl digital box to the recorder - then output hdmi from the
recorder to my 42" Sharp LCD (Full HD), will it upscale the picture?

The manual states it will upscale video to 576p - I'm guessing this will be an improvement over the ntl digital (through the scart)?

Does anyone know of a better dvd-recorder that will do this?

Thanks

K

576i is standard PAL resolution

I wouldnt say its upscaling much. You would have to see it preform to judge.
Outputting via HDMI may improve the picture alright and its progressive but again, I wouldnt know fully without seeing it in operation

If it upscaled to 720 now, id say yes.

How about this one?

It claims to upscale to 1080p.

247Electrical.co.uk - LG RH277H / Up-Scaling DVD/HDD Recorder

I know what you mean - it really needs to be tested. I tried all the forums, can't find anyone else who has tried upscaling from NTL digital.

Yeah now that I'd go for if it does 1080.

Costly however

Powercity has it for €280 - not too bad considering.

I think I'm going to risk it - I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks for the help.
