Apartment Complex Satellite Solutions

hi ...
I live in an apartment complex where the only digital TV options is NTL (or whatever they are calling themselves these days) ... I'm sure you are all to familiar with the quality of their digital services so I won't rant about it ..

I am one of the directors of the management company and happen to agree with the idea of not allowing individual dishes. However, I'd like to investigate if a development wide alternative is possible (we have 119 apartments) ... and if so who to talk about setting one up ...

I guess there are two key cost elements to this - setting the system up from the dish to the existing co-ax infrastructure (which we own) ... and getting it maintained once the option exists ... including adding / removing new subscribers ... unfortunately we only appear to have one coax feed to the apartments ... so this poses a problem for Sky+ ... but even their basic services can't be as bad as NTL (can they ??!!)

The idea would be to offer our residents the choice between Sky and NTL.

Can anyone advise ?
Are you aware of anyone who has sucessfully implimented a similar idea ?

Is this really like setting up your own broadcasting system?
I have heard of such systems used in hotels etc, but I wouldnt know myself on how you would implement such a system without a lot of resources used etc.

I have seen pictures of a hospital that had such a system implemented, but had to have 16 sky digiboxes installed to provide such a service.

Ntl (now UPC) would be a good system if they made their boxes and epg firmware alot more stable and userfriendly.
You wouldnt then need two feeds for something like a sky+ system with them.

Sky - Digiglobe

Hi, any one here have one of these?

How would you rate them?

Is there a Sky Installer in Dublin that could provide one?

Thanks

K
